Welcome to the Coudelaria de Alter Sporting Estate
The jewel in our crown is the Coudelaria de Alter sporting estate. Situated near Alter do Chão in the high Alentejo region of Portugal.
Founded in 1748 by King Joao V, the King established the estate as the Royal Stud for the purpose of providing high-class horses for equestrian activities at the Royal Court.
King Carlos 1 around 1890 was known to hunt on the estate and an original hunting dog carriage is still on display in the estate museum. This Nationally important estate continues to provide the world famous Lusitano horses to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art.
A unique collaboration between Companhia das Lezírias, SA, and Iberian Game has resulted in an exclusive opportunity to shoot game on this most prestigious estate.
Establishing the shoot within the 800 hectare walled grounds has been rewarding and exciting, as the landscape has much to offer. You will feel privileged while engaging wild Portuguese partridge within this historic place.
Spectacular driven game shooting at the Coudelaria de Alter sporting estate is only part of a day you will never forget. We will succeed in providing you and your team with unrivalled hospitality in surroundings, steeped in history. The estate benefits from its easy access by road and is only 2 hours northeast from the capital Lisbon.
We are therefore delighted to offer the chance to enjoy first class sporting birds over pegs placed on this stunning natural landscape and in these historic royal surroundings. A day conceived and delivered to the sporting enthusiast without compromise, which will be enough to challenge the most experienced of guns.
This quality of shooting combined with exceptional hospitality enjoyed in the Alter Real Country House will give you and your team a day to remember.
